We “LAVA” Classic Books!

Each month, one to two Classic books will be assigned for independent reading. These Classic books are available in our classroom for check-out. For each required book, you will need to fill out a “We LAVA Classic Books” form and have a reading conference with Mrs. Taylor. You may also read additional classics to move higher up on the reading chart below, but remember, you must complete a form for each one. Only Classic books you have not read before count toward this project. Everyone is required to read at least 20 minutes four nights a week as homework for Language Arts FOCUS.

After reading 10 Classic books (required for everyone) this year, you are a NATURAL DISASTER

If you read 11-15 Classic books, you are an EARTHQUAKE

If you read 16-20 Classic books this year, you are a TORNADO

If you read 21-25 Classic books this year, you are a BLIZZARD

If you read 26-30 Classic books this year, you are TSUNAMI

If you read 31-35 Classic books this year, you are a FLOOD

If you read 36-40 Classic books this year, you are a FIRE

If you read 41-45 Classic books this year, you are a AVALANCHE

If you read 46-50 Classic books this year, you are an VOLCANO

If you read 51 or more Classic books this year, you are an EXTREME READER!

We will have a special ceremony at the end of the year to celebrate our reading!

All “We LAVA Classic Books” forms must be kept in your Independent Reading Folder in the classroom.
